EN Would you tell us a little about yourself before starting the interview?
EN English I am 27 years old and I come from Indonesia. I am a full-time artist. I paint with coffee remnants, that's why most of my paintings are in mini scale.
ES ¿Antes de empezar la entrevista, nos cuénta algo sobre de ti?
ES Tengo 27 años y vengo de Indonesia. Soy un artista a tiempo completo. Pinto con el café que me sobra por eso la mayoría de mis dibujos son pequeños.
EN Your art is called Zerowastecoffee (Zero Waste of Coffee) nothing is wasted of coffee, why did you choose the leaves to paint with coffee?
EN To be honest I didnt plan it, I didnt plan to paint with coffee on leave. It was, I remember, a Friday noon, I walked in the alley near my house, I saw a tree with its leaves falling to the ground, it was brown, dark brown like the color of coffee, at that time, I asked myself Why Didnt I paint on leaves? I took some of them and began to paint on it. I think that was one of my best moment. My Painted Leaves are on of the most popular paintings I ever made.
Zero Waste of Coffee is indeed my own green campaign but it is also about celebration!
I really want people to at least catch the simplest meaning of what I’m doing, that it is not about how talented we are, it is how we celebrate our lives,to love more, to spread more peace. And enjoy every drop of your coffee!
ES Tu arte se llama Zerowastecoffee (Zero Waste of Coffee, cero desperdicio de café) no se desperdicia nada de café, ¿por qué elijiste las hojas para pintar con café?
ES Honestamente, no he planificado, no he planeado pintar en las hojas con café. Recuerdo que era mediodía un viernes, estaba caminando por el camino de entrada cerca de mi casa, vi un árbol con hojas cayendo al suelo, era marrón, café oscuro como el color del café, así que me pregunté ¿Por qué no pintar en las hojas? Recogí algunas de ellas y comencé a pintarlas. Creo que fue uno de mis mejores momentos. Mis hojas pintadas son las pinturas más populares que he hecho.
Zero Waste Coffee es, de hecho, mi campaña ecológica, ¡pero también es una celebración!
Realmente quiero que la gente capte finalmente el significado más simple de lo que estoy haciendo, que no se trata de cómo soy talentoso, sino de cómo celebramos nuestras vidas, de amar más, de diseminar más paz. ¡Y aprecia cada gota de tu café!
EN Do you also paint coffee cups, do your customers ask you for special designs?
EN Yes, some of them ordered for special design, like portrait, or illustration both for book publishing company or just a man who wants to make his girl happy or a daugter willing to make her mother smile.
ES ¿También pintas tazas de café, tus clientes te piden diseños especiales?
ES Sí, algunos han hecho un pedido de un diseño especial, como un retrato o una ilustración, tanto para una editorial de libros como para un hombre que quiere hacer feliz a su novia o una hija que quiere hacer sonreír su madre.
EN Do you like a italian coffee and how to make a Indonesian coffee?
EN Yes, I do, I do love italian coffee, some of my friends her are italian and they know how to enjoy coffee. But I guess, in my country, Indonesia, we have a more simple coffee serving, eventhough we have plenty variety of it like Gayo, Kintamani, Lampung, etc.
ES ¿Te gusta el café italiano y cómo se hace el café indonesio?
ES Sí, me encanta el café italiano, algunos de mis amigos son italianos y saben cómo hacer un buen café. Pero me imagino que en mi país, Indonesia, servimos un café mucho más simple, aunque tenemos muchas variedades como Gayo, Kintamani, Lampung, etc.
EN Which other types of artistic techniques do you like most?
EN My painting talks romanticism and dystopian as well, and I borrow mozaic technic in creating them. I love the way I paint drop by drop, it's therapeutic.
ES ¿Hay algunas otra forma de arte que te gusta practicar?
ES Mi pintura también habla de romanticismo y es distópica, tomo prestada una técnica de mosaico para crear. Me encanta la forma en que pinto gota a gota, es terapéutico.
