ES - Al Margen es el seudónimo del artista argentino de Buenos Aires que ilustra con sus dibujos algunas de las duras realidades de la sociedad en la que vivimos.
EN - Al Margen is the pseudonym of the Argentine artist from Buenos Aires who illustrates some of the harsh realities of the society where we live, with his drawings.

ES - Tus dibujos nacen al margen de lo que todos están acostumbrados a mirar, ¿qué ves cuando dibujas?
EN - Your drawings are born "on the border" from what we are used to looking at, what do you see when you draw?
ES - No me gusta dibujar la realidad. Por más que mis dibujos traten sobre temas reales, no están dibujados de una forma realista. Así que cuando dibujo miro más a mi imaginación que a la realidad. De todos modos, no creo que sean algo tan original o algo que la gente no está acostumbrada a mirar. Conozco a muchísimos dibujantes que abordan los mismos temas pero mucho mejor que yo.
EN - I don’t like drawing reality. As far as my drawings are concerned with real problems, they are not drawn realistically. So, when I draw I look more to my imagination than to reality. In any case, I don’t think they are so original or something that people are not already used to seeing. I know many cartoonists who face the same topics, but much better than me.
ES - ¿Cuándo comenzaste a convertir tus consideraciones en dibujos?
EN - When did you start transforming your considerations into drawings?
ES - Dibujo desde que tengo uso de razón. Antes dibujaba comics. Y cuando me quedé sin tiempo para hacerlos, comencé a sintetizar. Intento dibujar historias en un solo cuadro. Y el resultado son los dibujos que subo a internet.
EN - I started drawing since I make use of the reason. I used to draw comics. And when I did not find time to do it, I started to synthesize. I try to draw stories in a single image. And the result is the drawings that I publish on the Web.
ES - ¿Cómo describirías tu forma de dibujar? ¿Hay artistas que te hayan inspirado en particular?
EN - How can you describe your way of drawing? Are there any artists who have inspired you in particular?
ES - Justamente, mi forma de dibujar es el resultado de la suma de mis influencias. La lista es muy larga y solo voy a nombrar a algunos: Quino, Carlos Nine, Horacio Cardo, Tomás Müller, Alejandra Martínez y un largo etcétera. Estoy muy lejos de estar a la altura de estos artistas. Pero siempre estoy mirando su obra.
EN - Rightly my way of drawing is the result of the sum of my influences. The list is very long and I will name only a few: Quino, Carlos Nine, Horacio Cardo, Tomás Müller, Alejandra Martínez and a long list of others. I'm far from being up to these artists. But I always look at their work.
ES - ¿Cuáles son los temas que más a menudo atraen tu atención?
EN - What are the themes that attract your attention most often?
ES - Los temas más recurrentes son las cosas que me preocupan. Utilizo el dibujo de una manera terapéutica. Sé que dibujando no voy a solucionar nada. Pero me reconforta un poco cuando alguien se siente identificado con algún dibujo.
EN - The most recurring themes are the things that worry me. I use the drawing in a therapeutic way. I know that the drawing will not solve anything. But it comforts me a little when someone feels identified with a drawing.
ES - En tu página, dices que tus dibujos nacieron solo dan un impulso y para molestar: ¿el arte es un instinto natural que debe molestarte para hacerte pensar?
EN - On your page you say that your drawings were born only to give an input and annoy: is art a natural instinct that should bother you to make you think?
ES - No sé cuál es la definición de arte y su función. No quiero entrar en ese debate. Yo no soy artista, soy dibujante. Personalmente, como espectador, me llega más algo que está hecho para molestar que algo condescendiente. Lo que molesta me hace replantearme las cosas. Pero, como dije, es algo personal, no es una regla.
EN - I don’t know what the definition of art is and its function. I don’t want to join that debate. I'm not an artist, I'm a cartoonist. Personally, as a spectator something that is made to annoy strikes me most that something condescending. What bothers me makes me rethink things. But, as I said, it's something personal, it's not a rule.
